Lately I’ve been studying Walt Stanchfield’s Drawn to Life. Stanchfield is a really inspiring human being with plenty of wisdom and pragmatism when it comes to getting at the root of animation and drawing. What he keeps emphasizing is the need for clear gesture to get the story across. It is essential in any form of animation. Through the pages I could hear Walt’s voice in my mind, urging me to keep practicing my life drawing.
Below a selection of the gesture- and figure drawings I’ve made during the last few weeks. I’m now slowly trying to find a balance in experimenting with different forms of animation, while at the same time maintaining a steady practice in the essentials.
